Title : Exploring the cosmic reionization and galaxy growth with AstroSat
Speaker : Kanak Saha (IUCAA, India)
Abstract :
The ultraviolet Imaging Telescope on AstroSat has been used to create one of the deepest far-ultraviolet field, called the AstroSat UV Deep Field (AUDF) covering the entire GOODS South and North region and thereby provides an excellent opportunity to do multi-wavelength astronomy from far-UV to IR. After giving a brief overview of how such UV deep fields are created, the speaker plans to discuss two interesting science outcomes : exploring the nature of galaxies emitting ionising radiation at redshift z=1 – 2, relevant for understanding the cosmic reionization and growth of dwarf galaxies via UV clump migration.
